Nominations for the Australian Award for Excellence in WOmen's Leadership now open for 2020
Nominations are now open for the 2020 Australian Awards for Excellence in Women's Leadership.
There is one recipient per state/territory and a national recipient selected each year. This year, Tracey Spicer AM was presented with the National Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership.
Suzi Finkelstein, Director of Leadership & Advocacy at WLA, said; “This awards program was created in an effort to amplify and celebrate women who are not only excellent leaders themselves, but who also actively encourage and assist other women in having opportunities to be leaders as well. Our award winners do some really incredible things in their industries and communities and actively work towards a more equitable society.”
“Not as many women as men win awards in Australia, as highlighted through the #recognitionmatters initiative being run by the Victorian Government, and the #honourawoman initiative that hopes to see more women nominated for Australian honours. The Australian Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership are now entering their seventh year and represent another avenue for women’s leadership to be recognised."
The Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership recognise the contribution of women at a National and State/Territory level to the advancement of gender equality across Australia. More specifically the awards recognise individual women that have, through their actions, improved the likelihood of other women within their field of endeavour having greater access to leadership equality.
Previous recipients of the award include; Julia Gillard, Nova Peris OAM, Julie Bishop, Patricia Miller AO, Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, Ann Sherry AO, Elizabeth Broderick AO, Janine Allis, Rosie Batty, Holly Ransom and Bettina Danganbarr.
Those who wish to nominate someone should visit here. Winners will be announced in the new year.
