Tackling gender equity in the energy sector

Less than a quarter (24.1 per cent) of management positions in the energy industry are held by women, according to data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s Gender Equity Scorecard (2020-21). And the current gender pay gap in the electricity and energy sector is 14.5 per cent. 

Of course, gender equality in the workplace is an important consideration for many organisations and industry sectors across Australia – not just the energy sector. But a sector-specific approach can help drive powerful change in the gender equity space. 

That’s why Women & Leadership Australia works closely with industry associations and peak bodies to offer sector-specific scholarships to support more women to undertake leadership development programs each year.

Scholarships are now available for women in the energy sector.
