Now in its tenth year, the Australian Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership recognises women leaders who proactively contribute to the advancement of other women and diverse people into leadership roles across Australia.

Specifically, the awards recognise women leaders who, through their actions, have improved the likelihood of other women and diverse people having equitable access to leadership opportunities. The accolades are given annually, both at National and State/Territory levels.

The purpose of these awards is to increase visibility and momentum for more diversity in leadership across Australian society, and to recognise those who contribute time, effort, and energy into making this happen.

Anyone can nominate someone for these awards.

Nominations are accepted for people who have contributed to creating leadership opportunities for women and diverse communities in Australia.

Contributions can be direct, meaning that the nominee has influenced legislative or policy change, created new workplace policies and procedure or other tangible actions (for example, mentoring programs, workplace sponsorship etc.) Contributions can also be non-tangible, including women who have undertaken inspirational actions or significant achievements during their career which increase the visibility of women’s leadership pathways and opportunities.

The purpose of this nomination process is to identify a short-list of finalists through which the recipients for each State/Territory and National award will be selected by WLA’s awards panel.Successful nominees will be contacted by WLA to seek their consent to accept the award, prior to any formal announcements.
